The investigation into O’Dell and Perry began in September, after the FBI received a tip flagging Perry’s TikTok profile. In a series of videos posted to the social-media network, Perry outlined a plan to travel to the Texas-Mexico border to kill migrants and U.S. Border Patrol officers, who Perry accused of “treason” for allowing migrants to cross the border, according to a criminal complaint.
The video was filmed inside a vehicle, and FBI agents were able to see a screen that identified Perry by his first name, according to federal authorities. O’Dell’s name was also visible on the screen. In a phone call with an FBI informant on Oct. 3, Perry said he planned to take bridges “out” around Washington, DC after his mission on the border. Perry also told the informant he had called the office of Gov. Greg Abbott and left a message.
Meanwhile, a team of FBI agents had been staking out O’Dell’s home in Warsaw, Missouri, authorities said. The agents saw Perry’s car in O’Dell’s driveway, and watched Perry walk into a gun store with a handgun on his hip. Perry is a convicted felon, and was not legally allowed to have that gun.Border Patrol wouldn’t review the medical file of a girl with a heart condition before she died
