This year's climbing was slightly delayed after three Sherpa climbers fell into a deep crevasse on a treacherous section of the mountain in April. Rescuers have not been able to find them.The COVID-19 pandemic did not deter hundreds of climbers from trying to reach the summit of Mt. Everest, though the mountain was closed to climbers for a certain period of time in 2020.
