A pregnant dog so large that she could hardly walk amazed a rescue team when she gave birth to a litter of 11 puppies.Meter Maid arrived at the Texas shelter Austin Pets Alive! in February from a city shelter. Initially, she was shut down and fearful—her pregnancy was so advanced that she was struggling to walk.'Our teams showed her all the love as she began to warm up to us and even put her on a wagon so she could spend some time in the sun,' an APA! spokesperson told Newsweek.
Shelters are striving to minimize euthanasia rates by promoting adoption campaigns, spaying and neutering programs, and behavior rehabilitation.APA! shared Meter Maid's story on their TikTok page @austinpetsalive where people have been delighted by the mama dog's happy ending.'Good lord that's not a meter maid that's a whole freight carrier,' said one TikToker.
