Greenwoods take over historic family business established in 1902

Earlier this week, Shaw Milling Ltd. ownership posted a public announcement to social media indicating that the business has been taken over by Scott and Leslie Greenwood. Details of the change in ownership have not been disclosed.

"We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support, loyalty and friendship. There are no adequate words to express how grateful we are for each and everyone one of you," reads a portion of the social media post.

“This particular building has quite a history," former Shaw Milling owner Jim Shaw told SooToday at the time. "It used to be the barn that housed the horses that plowed the roads for the town, when the Sault was just a town in the 1800s." Shaw did not respond to SooToday's request for comment. When reached by telephone Tuesday, Leslie Greenwood informed SooToday that she would need to review and approve any article involving Shaw Milling Ltd. changing hands prior to publication.

Such a request is not in line with Village Media's journalistic standards and practices and was therefore refused. Like most news organizations, Village does not allow sources to review or edit articles before they are published.
