The Sharks will make Vodacom United Rugby Championship history when they play one of their season-opening tour games in London.

For the first time ever, a Vodacom URC game will take place in London after Ospreys confirmed they will use Twickenham Stoop to host the round 3 clash with the Sharks.

Twickenham Stoop, located right next to England’s legendary ground, is used by Premiership side Harlequins as a home ground.“We believe rugby should embrace new ideas and innovative events and we’re very happy to support Ospreys and Sharks in bringing the Vodacom United Rugby Championship to one of the world’s biggest cities where sport has such an iconic history,” said URC chief executive Martin Anayi.

“In addition to those who travel from Wales, we are fully aware of the large Vodacom URC fanbases living in London and we hope that the interest from Welsh and South African supporters in London can make this a really special event.” John Plumtree’s Sharks have been handed a challenging start to the 2023-24 season, kicking things off on tour against defending champions Munster on 1 October, before travelling to face Leinster in Dublin, Ospreys in London and Zebre in Parma.
