The Great Barrier Reef shark control program has been suspended after a tribunal ruled sharks found alive on drumlines must be released, ending a 60-year program designed to protect swimmers

"As a result, the decision has been taken to temporarily suspend the shark control program, within the boundaries of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park," he said.
