Boston College commit Judah Pruitt leads overpowering front line to help Shabazz amass 337 rushing yards in upset win over Cedar Grove
LaQuan Gaddy of 6th-seeded Shabazz helped open big holes all evening as the Bulldogs amassed 337 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns against 3rd-seeded Cedar Grove iin the North 2, Group 1 quarterfinals Friday in Cedar Grove.Shabazz was searching for a way to stop an opposing quarterback who set two state records for passing just two games earlier and had rallied his Cedar Grove team past the Buldogs earlier this season.
Together, they amassed 337 yards and four touchdowns on 50 carries to direct sixth-seeded Shabazz to a 32-26 victory over third-seeded Cedar Grove in the North 2, Group 1 quarterfinals of rhe 2023 NJSIAA / Rothman Orthopaedics state football tournament Friday night in Cedar Grove. “Everybody in the state says the Bulldogs aren’t this, the Bulldogs aren’t that. We’re coming,” Jackson said. “We lost to them the first time, 25-24, and we didn’t like that. That hurt us.”
“He’s a great player; he can do it all,” Smith said. “But in the beginning of the season, we were still finding our way. Now we’re a real team. We’re more like a family, really.”
