The complainant contends that the alleged sexual harassment took place between June 2021 and November 2022 via in-person and electronic communication, which according to her, were unwanted. Judge President Selby Mbenenge initially opposed a public hearing into the first-ever probe of this nature in the Judiciary. This resulted in a December 2024 ruling that ordered a hybrid hearing. However, a turn of events on Monday (13 January 2025) saw a changed position from the top Judge, resulting in the Tribunal delivering another order which now makes the hearings public in its entirety.
