The Department of Veterans Affairs says that visitors will still be able to reach burial sections during construction, and internments will proceed as normal.
A year-long effort to upgrade sewers and roads throughout Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Point Loma will begin on Monday and will periodically affect traffic patterns and parking until May 2024.
The project “will require sections of the roadway to be closed and traffic rerouted,” said the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. “Cemetery officials expect traffic patterns to change every three weeks and will be clearly marked.” The department emphasized that visitors will be able to reach burial sections during construction, and that internment services and ceremonies will proceed as normal.
