As severe weather looms over parts of the Western Cape , residents are advised to prepare for heavy rain, hail, lightning and strong winds . Anton Bredell, Western Cape Minister for Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, announced that the Provincial Disaster Management Centre is on high alert in anticipation of the harsh conditions expected on Monday, 4 March.
A cut-off low-pressure weather system is forecasted to sweep across the Cape Winelands and Overberg Districts, prompting the activation of district disaster management centres. Collaboration with weather services is underway to closely monitor the evolving weather patterns. Additionally, provincial departments of Health, Education and Infrastructure are on standby to address any disruptions to essential services.
