Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms
that could produce strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
“The main hazards with any storms will be strong wind gusts and large hail. Late this afternoon and into this evening, storms may train over areas east of Lake Superior which may lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas. A tornado threat cannot be ruled out.”Current details: Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water.Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
