The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for South Texas until 8 p.m. Friday.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of South Texas, including San Antonio, until 8 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service said. Cities included in the watch include San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Pleasanton. The watch extends west and includes Laredo and Del Rio, It also extends east to include the Houston metro area.
Here’s a closer look at Friday’s severe weather forecast. Storms are expected to develop during the mid-afternoon, and some redevelopment is expected through the evening. The biggest threat will be very large hail, with isolated storms capable of producing golf ball-size hail or larger. Damaging winds gusts and an isolated tornado are also possible. As of 2 p.m., wind speeds have already shifted in San Antonio and are now coming in from the north.
