Several roads will be closed in Cape Town on Monday due to a planned march by the EFF. The EFF has called for shutdown in the Western Cape about a number of issues including unjust taxi impoundments.
Chairperson of SANTACO in the Western Cape, Mandla Hermanus, “The march is scheduled to start at nine o’clock, which is long after our morning peak. What I’m saying is and I want this to be clear, the EFF is calling for a shutdown.
A shutdown is not a march, what we are saying is our operations will continue and participate in the march but there will be no shutdown. A shutdown would mean there will be no taxis tomorrow which what we are saying that tomorrow it’s business as usual for our operators. So, there will be no shutdown.”
