The Syrian sources initially reported that the airstrikes had caused only material damage.
Seven members of the Iranian armed forces were killed in Israeli airstrikes on ammunition depots near Syria’s Aleppo International Airport on Thursday morning, said the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
However, opposition sources said Iranian ammunition stores and a military airport used by Iranian forces had been struck. The Iranian deaths were reported on Thursday afternoon. According to military experts, Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards have a strong military presence in Aleppo where they support local militias that have for years been fighting alongside the Syrian army to defeat insurgents.
