The longest continuous campaign of the Second World War, spanning from 1939 to 1945, saw both sides battling for control of the ocean, which was vital to move personnel and supplies.
It also came at a great cost, with 54 sailors who enlisted at the Lakehead having lost their lives during the Second World War. "We are the Navy in Thunder Bay. We represent the Navy in Thunder Bay and for all of Northwestern Ontario," Moulson said. "All of the people who have fallen for us to bring us freedom and the people who made it through, I'm glad they made it through and were able to make it back to their families."
