As their name implies, helping local young people in need, to stay fit, has been an important part of Sun Youth’s mission since the beginning. This culminates in the annual Avi Morrow Bike Giveaway for deserving youngsters. How more helpful can you get?At Christmas and Easter dinner, one of the guests sitting down to enjoy a good meal at Welcome Hall Mission, here in Montreal, will have a placemat in front of them bearing my handwritten name, Alice, and my good wishes.
While this is a Montreal story — there are more organizations like this one — the situation is not unique to our city. Perhaps, once in a while, we should all look beyond our four walls to see need.Here is a Montreal organization close to home that has helped me, personally, along with countless others. The part of their work I am acquainted with is the contribution they make to the visually disabled and the hard-of-hearing. They helped my late mother with her macular degeneration.
