A senior detective will review the original Greater Manchester Police investigation into death of TV journalist Teresa McMahon
A senior detective is to review a police investigation into the death of a TV journalist. Teresa McMahon, 43, who worked for Granada Reports, was found unresponsive at her flat in Salford in the summer of 2021.
In January it was revealed a complaint about the way GMP handled its investigation after the death of Teresa is to be reinvestigated. That move came after the family complained to a police watchdog about the force's initial inquiry. In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: "Following recommendations by the IOPC, GMP's Professional Standards Branch is conducting a further investigation into complaint allegations made relating to the force's handling of alleged matters in the weeks leading up to Teresa's death.
A GMCA spokesperson said: "In November 2022, the then Deputy Mayor wrote to Ms McMahon in response to an original letter. Following further correspondence, a senior officer from GMCA met with Ms McMahon recently, where she outlined some further concerns. These concerns have been passed on and discussed with senior officers at Greater Manchester Police.
