The technical team's mandate is to maintain the upward trajectory starting with the MTN8.

Sekhukhune United have improved significantly every season since their debut in the Premiership in 2021/22.

They have finished fourth in the league last season but are still in search of their first silverware. The Limpopo-based club hosts Cape Town City in an MTN8 quarterfinal match in Polokwane on Saturday. Sekhukhune United is a club on the up. They reached the final of the Nedbank Cup in 2022/23 and finished fourth in the DStv Premiership last season. Their next goal is to win silverware.

And the first cup competition of the season, the MTN8, presents an opportunity, even though the coach and the players are not too familiar with one another. Their German-born head coach, Peter Hyballa, only joined Sekhukhune in June. “Yes, you will see some new players this Saturday and what I expect you know every player has his own strength, but I don’t want to always talk about the individual players. I want to talk more about a team but for sure I see the first 10 days it was something new so some of the players did not know each other, but it is good. I expect them to do a good job. They expect a lot from me and from my coaching staff. And once again, I’m not alone,” says Hyballa.
