The five maids were in rival groups that were not on good terms because one of them posted TikTok videos insulting a domestic helper from the opposing group.
Indonesian domestic worker Maesaroh leaves the State Court on Sep 17, 2024, having received a fine of S$1,000 after being found guilty of affray. Maesaroh, a 35-year-old Indonesian, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one count of affray between two rival groups of maids.
The rival group comprising Sulastri, Siti, Nita and others were at a gathering at Tanjong Katong Complex when Siti suggested going to Paya Lebar Square to confront Sriani over the TikTok post. The Manpower Ministry told CNA after Sriani’s sentencing that work pass holders, including migrant domestic workers, who contravene Singapore’s laws will have their work passes revoked and barred from working in Singapore.
