In the wake of the war in the Middle East, pro-Israel, pro-Palestinian, and activists cheering for peace protested in Seattle Friday evening.
The demonstrations followed a global call to action by former Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal. According to ABC News, he called for protests across the Muslim world on Friday in support of Palestinians. The message has since been amplified on social media by calls for a day of "resistance on behalf of the people of Gaza.
In Capitol Hill at Cal Anderson Park, The Party for Socialism and Liberation, also known as PSL held a pro-Palestine rally, chanting to end the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip.Police in two major U.S. cities - New York and Los Angeles - said they would step up patrols, especially around synagogues and Jewish community centers. However, authorities insisted they were unaware of any specific or credible threats.
