SFU's Centre for Natural Hazards Research has launched the Volcanic Hazards Awareness and Knowledge Survey.
Simon Fraser University.'s Centre for Natural Hazards Research has launched the Volcanic Hazards Awareness and Knowledge Survey to gauge what folks in B.C. know and don't know about them.
The project is being launched in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Canada, which is the national governing organization that shares geoscientific information and undertakes research.Survey results will help inform future volcano and volcanic risk-reduction educational resources, according to the study’s Yu Yen Pan, a PhD. candidate in the Department of Earth Sciences at SFU.
The hope is to reach a broad range of respondents with varying degrees of understanding about volcanoes, their behaviour and risks, she said. To encourage folks to participate, respondents will be entered into a prize draw for $20 gift cards.
