Earlier this month, local cadets kicked off Cadet Week by hitting Ramsey Lake for a weekend at the Navy League Training Centre
One of the longest-running youth programs in the city hit the waters of Ramsey Lake earlier this month for training.
“Canada has a dynamic cadet program with numerous cadet corps and squadrons across Ontario. The Navy League of Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces, provide program support for the sea cadets 12 to 18 years of age,” the group told Sudbury.com. “Cadet Week honours these outstanding young Canadians whose unique personal and collective development through the cadet program will help them be successful in Canadian society, as well as recognizing those who support the programs directly and indirectly.”
“In the summer, cadets have an opportunity to venture off to summer camps where they can specialize in an alternative skillset such as music, ceremonial traditions, sailing, outdoor adventure, and vessel training.”
