The total number of private hospital admissions in Scotland last year amounted to 21,000, according to figures published by the Private Healthcare Information Network.
Scottish Labour has accused the SNP of creating a “two-tier health system” where “the price of poverty is pain”, as a record number of people are paying for private health and dental care in Scotland.
At the same time, at least 36,818 Scots have opted to leave NHS dentists and pay for private dental care since 2019, according to figures obtained by Labour Freedom of Information requests. But she warned that for those who do not have enough money, their only options are to "take on debt or live with rotting teeth or agonising joint pain."
