Eighty counsellors have been employed in Scotland’s colleges and universities, allowing students vital access to mental health support

Figures last year showed that 54 per cent of students reported suffering a form of mental health problem.

But Jon Vincent, principal of Glasgow Clyde College and mental health lead for the college sector, warned that the ­counsellors could lose their jobs as a result of spending cuts.
