Mr Yousaf, who has close ties with Sturgeon, has faced criticism over his record in successive roles in the Scottish government.Ms Sturgeon, 52, has served as first minister since November 2014 and resigned unexpectedly last month, claiming she felt unable to give “every ounce of energy” to the job.
