The massive £3billion site at Seagreen, off the Angus coast, can generate enough electricity to power 1.6million homes and will slash our national emissions.
Scotland's biggest offshore wind farm has begun operating at full power - and is set to take two million tons of carbon a year out of the UK’s electricity supply.
Operators SSE say the farm will reduce Britain’s reliance on fossil fuels and remove millions of tons of emissions from our energy network. Yousaf said: "The Seagreen offshore windfarm is a fantastic example of the work being done to unleash Scotland’s renewable potential, as we seek to lead the world in the transition to net zero.
“We are determined to maximise the economic opportunity Scotland’s offshore wind potential presents, by developing local supply chains, embedding innovation, boosting skills, creating jobs, and benefiting people and communities.” Top news stories today Scotland currently makes up the bulk of the UK’s onshore wind capacity, while England has the most offshore turbines.
