Sione Tuipulotu, captain of the Scottish rugby team, will miss the 2025 Six Nations due to a pectoral muscle injury. This news comes as a major setback for Scotland's hopes of winning the tournament for the first time.
Scotland's hopes of claiming their first Six Nations title in 2025 have suffered a major setback with the announcement that captain Sione Tuipulotu will miss the tournament due to a chest injury. Tuipulotu sustained a pectoral muscle injury during a training session with the Glasgow Warriors last week and will undergo surgery this week. While the Scottish Rugby Union anticipates his return before the end of the season, his absence is a significant blow to the team's ambitions.
The 27-year-old Tuipulotu has established himself as a key figure in Scotland's midfield, winning 30 caps since his debut in 2021 and scoring three tries. He was also considered a strong contender for one of the two starting center positions for the British & Irish Lions tour to Australia later this year. To add to Scotland's woes, lock Scott Cummings is also ruled out of the Six Nations due to a fractured arm sustained during Glasgow's Champions Cup match against Harlequins on Saturday. In Tuipulotu's absence, Rory Darge and Finn Russell will co-captain the Scottish side as they aim to make a strong showing in the tournament.
