could be thrown into doubt this week when the Government receives a report over the mysterious mass die-off of marine life in the North East., is intended to be the Government’s flagship example of investment in the North, bringing in 20,000 jobs and revitalising the region’s economy over the next 25 years.
They believe all dredging operations should be paused while a thorough analysis of the Tees is carried out, including crucial work at South Bank Quay that is needed to open up the freeport to large vessels. Mr Goodwill said that trust of government agencies over the issue has been “badly damaged” and pushed for the new, independent report to be commissioned.
Mr Clarke and Mr Young reacted furiously, accusing Mr Cunningham of using parliamentary privilege to make “damaging insinuations”.
