Scientists at the National Institute of Standards and Technology noticed something off about the code during their own binge-watching of the show.
As Stranger Things season three shatters viewership records for Netflix, with at least 26.3 million Americans tuning in over the weekend, viewers are in the science field are questioning a significant plot point in the show regarding a key quantity in quantum physics.
The necessary code is Planck's constant, named for physicist Max Planck, an important quantity in quantum physics which links the amount of energy a photon carries with the frequency of its electromagnetic wave.Dustin, however, knows his camp girlfriend, Suzie, will know the correct code and he calls her on a homemade ham radio. After singing the theme from"The Neverending Story," Suzie provides Planck's constant as"6.62607004.
