High school cafeterias are closed until further notice, board tells parents
Classes will continue and Algoma District School Board schools will remain open into next week, the board told parents in a note today amid the dispute between the province and school support workers. However, the board said if the job action continues beyond a few days, it may need to reevaluate the situation as it focuses on school safety and keeping schools clean.
Parents were also asked to provide “garbage-free” lunches or ask their children to bring whatever garbage they can home with them for disposal. The board said there were no picketers at school sites on Friday. The board added it has not received notice that this will change.
