Schools are not currently expected to close, apart from the day of the funeral
As it stands, schools are currently set to remain open following the death of Queen Elizabeth. However, it is likely this could change at any time.
The government has said they want schools to remain open for most of the mourning period. The documents for Operation London Bridge show that the government will not order companies to give their staff the day off, reports The Mirror. However, the country will be expected to take a day off in remembrance of Queen Elizabeth II. Those who do not work in an essential service will likely be off work.
Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 surrounded by her family at her beloved Scottish estate, Balmoral. Her eldest son and heir is now King Charles III with Camilla as Queen Consort.
