JUST IN: A board member of K9s United, who happened to be at First Coast Veterinary Emergency, sent News4JAX these photos of the police chopper as it arrived at the clinic in Jacksonville Beach.
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, which is in the area, announced it was temporarily closed after the JSO announced it was investigating an “officer-involved incident” in the area. They said units in the area of Busch Drive were searching for an “armed suspect.”
Multiple sources also confirmed the incident stemmed from another scene on West 45th Street, where someone fired a gun and sped off, later crashing on Busch Drive. Sources later confirmed when investigators pulled a red car out of the brush following the crash, two bodies were found inside.
