, a few years ago after it kept me chafe-free on an impromptu swim and run session. I jumped out of a boat, swam ashore, and then set off for a 15-mile run with my shorts still soggy. That’s a recipe for raw thighs in just about any other bottoms, but the Saxx dried quickly and I had no irritation at all. When I got home, I trashed nearly all the other shorts I owned and bought four more pairs of the Kinetic Run.
Sadly, that model has been discontinued, but it’s been replaced by the Kinetic Sport. The new pair still has the signature liner to keep you in place, though it’s been updated with thinner fabric and a lighter shell. That’s good news for runners in swampy climates. And guys who like a modest cut will enjoy the 7-inch inseam. Personally, I found the shorts a bit too long for me.
On the run, however, I like the zippered pocket on the back. The previous model had it placed inside the right hand pocket. That wasn’t too bad if you were carrying only a credit card or ID, but if I put anything heavier—like a gel—it swung around too much. The new placement on the back keeps everything more stable.
