SAWS issues several weather warnings for various parts of SAThe South African Weather Service has issued several impact-based warnings for various provinces.The weather service issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in KwaZulu-Natal.
“These thunderstorms may be accompanied by large amounts of small hail, damaging winds, excessive lightning, and heavy downpours which may lead to localised impacts,” SAWS said.SAWS also issued a yellow level 4 warning for disruptive rain in Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga which is also valid from Saturday, 21 December until Sunday, 22 December.
“Some parts have already received moderate amounts of rainfall over the past two days and thus soil moisture is close/at saturation. Therefore, there is a low likelihood of flooding with significant impacts possible in some areas,” SAWS said. Additionally, a yellow level 2 weather warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued for the Eastern Cape.
