OLG has made a fourth-quarter payment for the period from Jan. 1 to March 31

The City of Sault Ste. Marie receives a fourth-quarter payment of $344,377 from Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for hosting Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie.

“OLG’s Municipal Contribution Agreement payments help support local programs and critical infrastructure projects that make a real difference in our community,” Ross Romano, member of the Provincial Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, said in a news release. “These revenues continue to help Sault Ste. Marie build a strong city where people and families live, work and play.”

During OLG’s fiscal year from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023, the city received $1,449,273, according to OLG. Since the gaming site opened in May 1999, Sault Ste. Marie has received $33,875,535. "These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site," reads the release issued by OLG.

In the past seven years, service providers have invested around $2 billion in private sector capital investment across Ontario, OLG says. Since 2017, these investments have helped develop and open seven new casinos.
