JOHANNESBURG - South Africa n Social Security Agency ( SASSA ) beneficiaries have been given 15 days to update their gold payment cards to the new Postbank black cards. This week, they have been visiting designated sites to complete the update, but many have encountered difficulties and significant delays in the process. The Alberton Centre, located in Johannesburg's East Rand, witnessed a large number of beneficiaries rushing to update their cards on Thursday.
Some beneficiaries shared that they had traveled from considerable distances because Alberton was the only center offering assistance. They expressed frustration that the updates were not handled similarly to the monthly grant payments, which eliminated the need for lengthy queues. One beneficiary stated, 'They should have done what they are doing with the grants. Elderly people first, youth second. But now you go up there to check the queues, you’ll see the queues outside here - it's nonsense.' Another added, 'There are only three laptops working there. Three laptops.
