A video showing a policeman assaulting a policewoman left the public outraged and demanding answers.
An image taken from a video which went viral on social media on 5 March 2019, showing a policewoman being 'assaulted' by a policeman. Police say this was a demonstration in a domestic violence class.
JOHANNESBURG - The South African Police Service has assured the public that a video showing a policeman assaulting a female officer was staged, as part of a domestic violence course.Laughter could also be heard in the background while the woman cries and covers her face.
"We are requesting members of the public who are in possession of the video clip not to repost it. Whilst it is clear from the classroom setup that this is a training session, some may not immediately realise that and will be disturbed by what they see." Naicker said police management in KwaZulu-Natal have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrator and ensure that he or she is brought to book in terms of our internal disciplinary regulations.
