The minerals were mined from Richards Bay Minerals , diverted from the Richards Bay Harbour, and stored at a warehouse. Allegedly they were being repackaged to be sold to international buyers. Mathe continued, alleging that this syndicate would transport fake stuff to the harbour and divert the original minerals to Joburg. On Wednesday, the team pounced on the warehouse, and during a thorough search of the premises found the minerals.
Furthermore, the SAPS has initiated a theft case in connection with the latest recovery. Moreover, efforts are underway to apprehend the owner of the implicated warehouse.In addition, praising the task team’s diligence, National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola underscored the broader scope of their operations. The broader scope include investigating violent crimes targeting mining executives in the region.
