A collaborative effort in Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) led to the arrest of two suspects after two mountain cyclists were robbed between Bokkemanskloof and Schoorsteenberg on Sunday morning.
A collaborative effort in Table Mountain National Park led to the arrest of two suspects after two mountain cyclists were robbed between Bokkemanskloof and Schoorsteenberg on Sunday morning.According to SANParks, the joint operation involving the South African Police Service , Hout Bay Community Crime Prevention, volunteers affiliated with TMNP, SANParks Sea, Air and Mountain Unit, and SANParks Rangers was activated after the incident.
‘This swift, collaborative response was initiated from the TMNP operations room after an alert by Hout Bay Communication Crime Prevention,’ said SANParksThis ‘quick reaction’ from SAPS and volunteers resulted in the two suspects being apprehended in the Constantiaberg area of Table Mountain National Park, above Hout Bay.
‘The suspects were found in possession of dangerous weapons and stolen items. The victims were unharmed and a case has been opened at Hout Bay SAPS by the victims, who were assisted by SANParks rangers,’ added SANParks. Following the incident, the park’s management team has urged park users to exercise caution while enjoying outdoor activities and to do so in groups.
