New research by MyBroadband Insights reveals Sandown, Sandton, as the South African neighbourhood with the fastest mobile network download speeds. The analysis, based on data from the MyBroadband Speed Test mobile app during the fourth quarter of 2024, showed Sandown residents enjoying average download speeds of 180Mbps, upload speeds of 34Mbps, and a latency of just 22ms.
New research shows that Sandown, Sandton is the neighbourhood with the fastest mobile network download speeds in South Africa.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of South Africans run speed tests on their smartphones using the MyBroadband Speed Test app to ensure their connections are working or to see how their provider is faring. MyBroadband Insights used the data collected by the MyBroadband Speed Test App to determine which South African neighbourhoods enjoy the best mobile broadband speeds.
Highveld Techno Park, Centurion took second place in the rankings, achieving average mobile download speeds of 172Mbps, upload speeds of 29Mbps, and 22ms latency.
