SANDF soldier killed, 13 others injured in battle with M23 rebels in DRC
A member of the South African National Defence Force died and 13 others were injured in a clash with M23 rebels in Sake, the Democratic Republic of the Congo , on Thursday.
The SANDF is currently deployed in the DRC as part of the South African Development Community mission in the country to bring stability to the region following attacks by M23 rebels. Since arriving in the DRC to lead the SADC force that compromised Malawi and Tanzania, the SANDF has been fighting on numerous fronts in North Kivu. But Sake, a town 25km west to north-west of Goma, has experienced heavy artillery and mortar fire, resulting in tens of thousands of displacements.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
