The office lease, the largest of its kind for the downtown market in recent history, will see the government agency take over two full floors and a ground floor space for hosting public-facing meetings
San Diego’s lead transportation agency has settled on a new downtown headquarters to accommodate its hybrid workforce and host public-facing board meetings.
SANDAG will take over a portion of the ground floor for its boardroom, as well as the entirety of two floors of the office portion of the mixed-use project, said Brent Schertzer, a managing director with Holland. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Bounded by Broadway, Union, Front and C Street, West takes up one of three blocks that Holland and its partner, Japanese builder North America Sekisui House, acquired from the county in June 2019 after winning a bid to redevelop the former San Diego County Courthouse property.
The deal marks the first new office lease in the downtown market greater than 40,000 square feet in more than five years, said Joshua Ohl, who is the San Diego director of market analytics for real estate tracker CoStar.
