San Jose Sharks make five staff additions to hockey operations
The five new additions consist of Scott Fitzgerald as director of player personnel; Tom Holy as assistant general manager; Todd Marchant as a senior advisor and director of player development; Chris Morehouse as director of amateur scouting; and Ryan Stewart as pro personnel and a senior advisor.
Fitzgerald will oversee the pro and amateur scouting department, including any potential first or second round picks and college free agents. He first worked in an NHL front office with the Columbus Blue Jackets as a scout in 1999 for seven years before assuming the same role with the Boston Bruins in 2006. He then spent 16 seasons in the Bruins organization, with his role evolving from a scout to director of amateur scouting, NCAA scouting coordinator, and director of collegiate scouting.
Holy will oversee the team’s analytics department, staff budgeting, and contracts. His prior work has been in media relations and public relations with the Sharks, Dallas Stars, and Cleveland Barons, including roles as the Sharks media relations manager from 2005-2013, and the Stars vice president of communications and broadcasting.Marchant’s role will have him oversee the player development department.
Morehouse will oversee the Sharks amateur staff, as well as run the NHL Entry Draft for the team. He has previously worked as a scout with the Columbus Blue Jackets from 2013 to 2016, and promoted to director of amateur scouting from 2016 to 2020. He spent the last two seasons working with the New York Rangers as their director of scouting.
Stewart will oversee the Sharks professional staff in both North America and Europe. He worked with the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL from 2004-06 as an assistant coach and assistant general manager, and then general manager in 2005. He has spent the last 16 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, working as a video coach, assistant coach, amateur and pro scout, director of professional scouting, and director of player development.
