Chain seafood restaurant Red Lobster has closed at least eight locations across the country in the past few months.
, although most were in the Eastern part of the country. Red Lobster lost $15.3 million in the third quarter of 2022, nearly 5 million more than it projected. Owner Thai Union Group’s plans to fix the brand include improving inconsistent operations as well as the menu.
“In closing the location we hope to redeploy and add resources to other locations where we can continue our growth, whether it’s by developing our people in a new way or offering more innovative food choices to our guests," continued Red Lobster's statement to the Mercury News. Although the Red Lobster at 5343 Almaden Expressway in San Jose has closed, the other San Jose location at 2040 Aborn Road remains open. Red Lobster has a total of eight remaining Bay Area locations.
