Besides three weeks of music, this year’s festival includes a film series, art exhibition and a flag-raising at San Jose City Hall.
San Jose Jazz is venturing beyond music with “Winter Fest: Counterpoint with Ukraine,” the festival kicking off this week that is a timely collaboration with Am I Jazz? Festival of Kyiv. There will, of course, be some amazing music during the Feb. 16-March 3 event with U.S. musicians and their Ukrainian counterparts playing at venues in downtown San Jose and in Santa Clara.
“The local arts community has really rallied behind the idea of supporting Ukrainian and American cultural exchange at this time,” said San Jose Jazz Executive Director Brendan Rawson. Tickets for individual shows — kicking off at 7:30 p.m.
