Brock Purdy's standout rookie season with the San Francisco 49ers could end with a major award: NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The NFL announced the finalists for its awards on Wednesday and the former Arizona high school standout is among the three finalists for the award recognizing the top first-year player on offense.
The other finalists are Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III and New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Purdy being a finalist for the award might be controversial to some - he started just five regular-season games after all - but the quarterback went 5-0 in those starts to help the 49ers roll into the NFL postseason.He was the No. 262 pick in the 2022 NFL draft, the last person selected, but became the 49ers' starter after injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo.
