New data also shows homelessness continuing to grow throughout the region for the 23rd straight month

County officials have advanced two proposals to bolster the number of beds and parking spots available for homeless residents as the crisis continues to grow. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Wednesday to create an RV lot in Lakeside for more than a dozen seniors and families as well as 150 small cabins at one site in Spring Valley. Both efforts won't be finished for more than a year and many details still need to be worked out, including what organization will oversee each.

Nearly 1,200 people countywide lost a place to stay for the first time, while only about 1,040 homeless individuals got a roof over their heads during the same period. The Willow Recreational Vehicle Senior and Family Parking project will have 17 spots by the intersection of Willow Road and Ashwood Street. The lot will annually cost about $860,000 and supervisors set aside around $4.9 million overall. The project will take 18 months to launch, officials said.
