Rosita Lira, 52, has been arrested on six counts of human trafficking, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s OfficeA San Antonio woman has been arrested on six felony counts of human trafficking after the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office alleged that she forced migrants to perform labor for “slave wages.”
Officers had attempted to engage with Lira weeks ago at a residence in the 1600 block of Hillcrest Drive in the West Side, but they didn’t find evidence of human trafficking or drug smuggling, which authorities had been searching for that day, Salazar said. Salazar said the men had been working from sunup to sundown on “slave wages” — roughly $100 split between the group for a week of work.
