The shooting happened around 2 a.m. Monday at an apartment complex off South General McMullen near Roselawn Road, just south of U.S. Highway 90. "At some point, the officer tried to tase him with no effect," Chief McManus said. "They struggled over the gun after that tasing attempt. At some point during the struggle, the officer stepped back and shot the individual."
