Last year Ladbaby made chart history with their fifth number one Christmas hit
Singer Sam Ryder has sparked speculation that Nottingham chart toppers Ladbaby might not be releasing a Christmas single this year. Thousands have gathered for a two-day Radio 2 in the Park festival, in Leicester, as huge celebrities hit the stage today, September 17.
A Leicestershire Live reporter spotted Nottingham’s Ladbaby, Mark Hoyle, and his wife Roxanne, known as LadBaby Mum, with British singer and Eurovision star, Sam Ryder. Last year, the couple made chart history with their fifth number-one Christmas hit, a new version of the Band Aid song Do They Know It’s Christmas?
However, a comment from Sam has led to speculation that Nottingham's LadBaby might not aim for a sixth Christmas number one this year. The singer was overheard telling Ladbaby to "enjoy your year off", which could mean they're not planning on releasing anything new.The social media stars, who share two young sons, made chart history in 2022 by securing Christmas number one for a fifth consecutive year – surpassing a record set by The Beatles in the 1960s.
The charity song was called Food Aid with lyrics about the cost-of-living crisis and vocals from MoneySavingExpert founder Martin Lewis. In the run-up to Christmas, the track sold more than 65,000 units to become the fastest-selling single of 2022 to date. Ladbaby previously reached the top of the Christmas charts with food-inspired tracks, We Built This City , I Love Sausage Rolls , Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ and the Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John-featuring Sausage Rolls For Everyone .
